I think that perhaps destroying the credibility of ALL news outlets is the point. When a population loses touch with reality beyond their front doors, they become malleable. When you can’t trust anyone at all, the bigs - as I call them - can do whatever they want. They don’t need your faith, they just need your fear and inability to act independently.

Where ever in the world countries are fighting, SOMEONE is posting from the front lines. Even YouTube is full of so many AI generated garbage now, it's hard to make sure it's correct. You have to fact check everything now!

I think we should care about the network/mainstream news. True that it is not really worth caring for but when it did have credibility it was what we relied on for our news and learning about what our government is up to. Independent news sources don’t have the institutional resources to do in depth journalism. There are a few out there but not many. Our vision is getting narrower and narrower.
