BREAKING: James Comey, Former FBI Director, Has Been Indicted
The indictment against Comey comes just days after President Trump pressured the Department of Justice to prosecute his political enemies.
Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of obstruction of justice and lying to Congress.
The grand jury returned two of three counts requested by federal prosecutors.

This comes just a few days after President Trump complained publicly in a post directed at Attorney General Pam Bondi that charges against his political enemies, whom Trump wishes to punish for investigating, suing and charging him, were slow-moving.
Last week, the president pushed out Eric Siebert, the acting U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Siebert resigned under heavy pressure after he angered the president because he said there wasn’t enough evidence to bring charges against New York Attorney General Tish James, who filed a civil fraud lawsuit against Trump and the Trump Organization that resulted in a massive judgment.
After Siebert’s ouster, Trump quickly installed his former personal attorney and White House aide, Lindsey Halligan, as interim U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Halligan, who had previously worked on Trump’s legal team and joined the White House staff earlier in 2025, had no prosecutorial experience before assuming the position.
Trump has long blamed Comey for the various investigations involving Russian interference, accusing him of setting the stage for what he calls a “witch hunt” that plagued his presidency and damaged his reputation.
Trump hasn’t just focused his ire on Comey. He also ordered Comey’s daughter, Maureen, to be fired as a top federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York.
She subsequently filed a lawsuit claiming the termination was unlawful, arguing it was politically motivated, lacked cause and violated protections afforded to career federal prosecutors.
In a video posted on Instagram, Comey said that he and his family are not scared. “We will not live on our knees, and you shouldn’t either,” Comey said.
Comey’s son-in-law, Troy Edwards, a prosecutor in the same office that indicted his father-in-law, tendered his resignation immediately after Comey was indicted.
In a resignation letter, Edwards said that he was resigning “to uphold my oath to the Constitution and country.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump reacted to the news of the indictment — which was at his behest — by saying:
“JUSTICE IN AMERICA! One of the worst human beings this country has ever been exposed to is James Comey, the former corrupt head of the FBI. Today he was indicted by a grand jury on two felony counts for various illegal and unlawful acts. He has been so bad for our country, for so long, and is now at the beginning of being held responsible for his crimes against our nation. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
In a post on Twitter, Attorney General Pam Bondi said:
“No one is above the law. Today’s indictment reflects this Department of Justice’s commitment to holding those who abuse positions of power accountable for misleading the American people. We will follow the facts in this case.”
Trump noted in his post against Bondi over the weekend that he had reviewed 30 posts indicating that someone — it’s unclear who — had presented him public reaction via social media and other forms of media expressing disappointment that charges were slow-moving.
People in the broader MAGA universe have extraordinary direct access to the president, so they are often able to send him documents and messages that in other administrations would likely not even reach a president’s desk.
Trump allies have continuously used this access to convince him to take actions that have crossed ethical and legal boundaries.

Indicted by an Insurance Attorney that has never prosecuted anyone, appointed by trump because no one would touch it....She'll be gone in a nanosecond when the indictment is thrown out... He delights in costing people money to hire counsel knowing it won't go anywhere. There should be a caveat that trump has to pay their attorneys fees for his frivolous lawsuits/indictments. When is the DOJ going to stand up to him? They are not his personal attorneys
