BREAKING: Stephen Miller is the new White House chief of staff

The architect of Trump’s hardline immigration agenda will replace Susie Wiles, who is moving to the president’s outside political operation.

President Trump just announced on Truth Social that Stephen Miller, his longtime adviser and the architect of his hardline immigration agenda, will serve as his new chief of staff. Miller is currently White House deputy chief of staff.

Trump says Susie Wiles, who has served as his chief of staff for nearly two years, is heading to his outside political operation. Wiles previously ran Trump’s presidential campaign and political operation while President Biden was in office.

A source at the White House told me that Wiles resigned last night. President Trump is privately furious over the midterm election results, much more so than he has shown publicly. He turned his ire toward Wiles, leading her to offer her resignation.

In a tweet, Wiles confirmed that she was leaving her post and that “serving President Trump in the White House has been the honor of a lifetime.”

Pete Hegseth, the embattled secretary of defense, reacted to the news by tweeting, “Patriots in control.” Hegseth, who is facing bipartisan calls for impeachment, is more likely to find an ally in Miller than in Wiles.

Voters made clear in the midterm elections that the way the administration handled immigration matters was a bridge too far for them. Miller was the architect of those actions and wanted to go much further than President Trump allowed.

Now Miller will be in the ultimate seat of power in the White House, second only to the president of the United States.
