The FBI has released two images of a man they have identified as a “person of interest” in the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the ultra-powerful conservative commentator and close Trump friend who was murdered yesterday while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University.
The FBI is also offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to the person of interest.
Earlier this morning, at a press conference, law enforcement authorities said they were searching for a “college-age” man whom they say arrived on campus approximately half an hour before the assassination.
Authorities say they have recovered the weapon they have determined the gunman used, described as a bolt-action rifle, which likely means it’s an older firearm.
They also say they have a palm imprint, a shoe print, and a forearm imprint.
Earlier today, President Trump announced that he was going to posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance are visiting Utah today to pay their respects.
The Vances will be transporting Kirk’s casket aboard Air Force Two to Arizona, where Kirk lived with his wife and two children, and where the organization Turning Point USA was headquartered.
The FBI had a planned press conference around the time this story is being sent, but they canceled it due to rapidly devoloping events.
