Iranian Jewish Man Set to Be Executed on Monday Unless Family of Muslim Man Can Be Convinced to Forgive Him
Arvin Ghahremani killed a Muslim man two years ago. His family says it was in self-defense. Now, it is up to that man’s family to decide whether Ghahremani lives.

A 20-year-old Jewish man from Kermanshah, Iran, is set to be executed on Monday unless his family can convince another man’s family to forgive him.
I have obtained and reviewed a copy of Arvin Ghahremani’s ID card and his death warrant (Hokm-e E’dam); additionally, Iran Human Rights, an NGO focused on promoting human rights in Iran and documenting human rights abuses, has confirmed the details of the case independently.
Ghahremani is accused of murdering a Muslim man. His family says he killed the man in self-defense after a fight broke out over money Ghahremani says he was owed.
Ghahremani’s case is known as a Qisas case, which means that the only people who can now spare Ghahremani’s life are the family of the man he killed.

In Iran, Jews are automatically guilty under the law. It cannot even be “guilty until proven innocent”- they are not granted the right to even prove innocence. If a Muslim drives his car into that of a Jew’s, the Jew must apologize to the Muslim and pay the damages.
