The Islamic Republic in Iran has sentenced a hero to death.

Toomaj Salehi, the famous Iranian rapper and freedom fighter who has served as the voice for millions of Iranians, is now facing execution merely for using his art to fight for freedom and battle the corrupt and criminal Islamic Republic regime.

Toomaj's attorney confirmed today that he has been sentenced to death. This sentencing took place, as it always does, after a sham trial.

Toomaj's music is not only revolutionary because he is willing to go after the regime while living in Iran, but also because he goes after all the enablers of the regime both in Iran and overseas: the media, NGOs, and foreign politicians who don't stand up for the freedom of Iranians.

Toomaj has been in and out of prison for years on various absurd charges ranging from insulting the Supreme Leader to propaganda against the regime to propagandistic activity against the government, cooperation with hostile governments, and forming illegal groups to create insecurity in the country. The names used for these charges are propaganda; they don’t reflect what Toomaj or anyone charged with these “crimes” has done. Toomaj did nothing but fight for the freedom of all Iranians and call for an end to the regime.

The regime’s security agents kidnapped Toomaj on October 2022 during the Women's Life Freedom protests, and he was brutally tortured in prison before being released briefly and then kidnapped again.

For forty-five years, the people of Iran have faced oppression from the Islamic Republic regime via its intelligence services, the Revolutionary Court, and various state security agencies. These entities are ultimately under the command of the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.

The fact that Iranians continue fighting against the regime amidst oppression and little sustained support from the global community should inspire you and lead you to join them in calling for freedom.

I know that people often want a place to donate money to or a petition to sign, but in this case, what Toomaj needs the most is sustained global attention.

Whether you post about his plight and his fight on social media (no matter how small your following is) or media figures use their art and platform to advocate for him, global attention moves the Islamic Republic the most.

While many innocent Iranians have been executed, we know of some who have been spared because the Islamic Republic is savvy enough to know what will cause them unnecessary trouble.
