Well for one Gaza was never an open air prison. For two, I really don’t know how to logically discuss something with someone who says make love not war. How does that look? Do we hug the raping terrorists and tell them we won’t take it personally? When Hamas says “we will do October 7th over and over” do we send them a fruit basket? This…

Do we hug the raping terrorists and tell them we won’t take it personally? When Hamas says “we will do October 7th over and over” do we send them a fruit basket? This is an actual decades long conflict with mistakes on all sides that has been impossible to navigate. It requires more thought and nuance than what fits on a bumper sticker.
see, you cant stop conflating terrorists with palastinian civilians. you're incapable of comprehending what make love not war means when you only see a group of people as terrorists. "This is an actual decades long conflict" yes. and the war shit doesnt seem to be solving the problem, it just creates further resentment and hatred among each group. especially when you show so little regard for peoples lives as the IDF and Hamas has done. so yes, it must start with compassion.
I wish that the terrorists would identify themselves like an actual military and not hide behind civilians to ensure that no one innocent is caught in the crossfires. But that’s not the situation is it. I have plenty of concern and care for Palestinian civilians. I also watched several videos with Palestinian civilians celebrating October 7th in the street. Civilians went through the border on October 7th to ransack homes, that is also caught on tape. People that are doctors, teachers etc, also are found to be Hamas members or accomplices. So yes I have compassion for the innocents, but there is no way to target Hamas directly. How do you suggest? Do we walk into Gaza and say hi anyone in Hamas please raise your hands so we can arrest you?
War has not been the only option in this conflict. There has been land offered for peace. Palestinian state solutions rejected. Israel pulling out of Gaza was seen as a major step towards peace and Palestinian statehood. To say that there’s only been war is grossly misconstruing the history. All the Palestinians need to do to have peace is to want peace. To agree to peace. I’m sure plenty of civilians want that. But they aren’t the ones who get to decide because Hamas is a dictatorship. So if the goal is to overthrow a dictatorship committed to mass murder, and bring democracy to the Palestinian people and eventually create a state for them, and ensure peace between the two countries. How do you do that without getting rid of Hamas?
i would also simply add, in their attempt to irradicate hamas they have only created a festering hatred and a new generation of Hamas. this escalation does absolutely nothing to improve the situation from any angle whatsoever. someone has to be the bigger person and stand firm and break the cycle of violence.
the issue i have with this situation is, regardless of the history, what you dont do when terrorists hide behind innocent people is shoot anyway. all you've done is make excuses for that when it is never justified regardless of who does the shooting or who started it. as i said, Israel should have stood firm in it's peaceful stance instead of escalating the situation into a humanitarian crysis.
No. More tact. More care. More humanitarian aid. More compassion for innocent people. Not what the idf is doing. 2 wrongs dont make a right. Doing worse than the terrorists is the problem. They are responding to terrorism with worse terrorism. Not that is what the respomse should have been.

So just stand there and let people kill them? Is what you are saying? That’s what you honestly think the response to October 7th should be?
