We have lost an American treasure. Dolly Parton, the Queen of country music and one of the greatest songwriters of the past century, a philanthropist who never forgot where she came from, has died.
She was 80 years old, and the news was announced by her family in a video, which I have embedded below.
This is going to be a tough one for me personally.
As some of you know, I have been a fan from way back, and not the type to say “Jolene” is my favorite song (not that there’s anything wrong with that), but her entire song catalogue has comforted me, brought me joy, and guided me in my life.
In the coming days, I will share some of my favorites.

Her memory is already such a blessing. We were lucky to live at the same time as Dolly, may she rest in such peace and comfort.
As a big fan of both you and Dolly, I’m not sure how I missed how much she meant to you. I’m in East Tn, about 45 min ( 25 miles but winding roads of the foothills of the Smoky Mountains…) from Sevierville , her hometown & Dollywood. I told my husband when Queen Elizabeth died and all of the outpouring of grief happened…..that when Dolly passes it will be the same way here. I’m just heartbroken.
